Spaying or neutering your dog, rabbit, or cat is an important aspect of protecting their health. It is also a very real step in the fight to prevent unwanted and homeless pets.
Spaying is the surgical removal of the uterus and ovaries in order to prevent pregnancy as well as certain gynecological cancers and infections. Spaying also protects your female pet from the dangers of giving birth. Spaying also completely eliminates the behaviors associated with your female pet’s heat cycle.
For most pets, spaying surgery is a simple procedure requiring about 10 days of limited activity at home. We are committed to keeping your pet as pain free as possible both during and after surgery. You will be sent home with care instructions and pain medication for your pet.
Neutering is the surgical removal of a male dog, rabbit, or cat’s testicles in order to prevent breeding behaviors as well as testicular cancer. Neutering can also prevent your male dog from roaming and being aggressive to other male dogs. It can also prevent embarrassing behaviors common in male pets.
