Herd Health & Wellness

All animals, including horses and livestock, need regular examinations. At Cleveland Park East Animal Hospital we encourage our clients to provide their animals with preventive care to keep them healthy and happy. Our veterinarians will help you create the best vaccination, dental, and deworming schedules for your animals to protect them against many serious and potentially deadly diseases.

Vaccination Guidelines
We work together with you, following the AAEP guidelines, to administer the appropriate vaccinations for your equine companion. Our recommendations include Rabies, Tetanus, Eastern and Western Encephalitis, West Nile, Rhinopneumonitis, and Influenza.
Proper dental care is a key component to keeping your horse healthy. A horse’s teeth continue to grow throughout their life and should be examined every 6 months for any changes in growth pattern or wear. Our doctors will perform a thorough examination of your horse while under sedation and, if needed, will float the teeth (with power assisted or hand floats) to correct the sharp points or uneven wear.
Parasite Control
Current research has shown that deworming your horse every 8 weeks may lead to parasite resistance. We recommend a strategic deworming program customized to each horse after a microscopic fecal egg count. A fecal egg count allows us to examine each horse’s individual parasite load and deworm them with the appropriate medication. By doing this, we reduce the risk of resistance and also meet the needs of each individual horse.
Examination & Health Certificates
Annual examinations are an important part of your equine companion’s health. Having one of our qualified veterinarians perform an annual examination allows subtle changes in your horse’s health to be detected. In addition to annual examinations, we also offer health certificates for travel, including the 6 Month Equine Event Permit.
Reproductive Services
Our doctors and staff offer a variety of options to meet your equine breeding needs. We offer breeding soundness examinations, estrous synchronization, artificial insemination, ultrasound, pregnancy evaluation and care, and neonatal care.
We are equipped to perform radiographs both on the farm and in the clinic. Our doctors and staff are able to perform routine diagnostics for pre-purchase exams as well as emergency care for lameness related concerns.
Pre-Purchase Examinations
A pre-purchase examination is a very important part of buying a new horse. Our doctors will perform a full physical exam, lameness exam, and any necessary laboratory screens to ensure that your horse is healthy prior to purchase.
Castration (both testicles descended), laceration and wound repairs.
Lameness Examinations
Lameness can be subtle or severe, but in all cases is very uncomfortable for the horse. Our doctors will identify the source of your horse’s lameness and provide quality medicine to alleviate the problem.
Laboratory Analysis
Whether you need a Coggins test or a full blood screening, our qualified staff is here to meet your needs. Our practice offers both in-clinic and outside lab testing, including next day Coggins testing.
Emergency Medicine
Veterinary care doesn’t follow a set schedule, so our doctors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your equine emergencies.

Examinations are a very important part of keeping your herd healthy. Whether you have 1 animal or 100, our veterinarians will perform a full physical examination to ensure your animal/herd health.
Reproductive Services
We offer collection, semen evaluation, and insemination services for our Bovine patients.
Parasite Control
Parasites play a large role in the health of many livestock species. It only takes a few parasites to reduce the health of the animal. This is why we highly recommend a fecal analysis and strategic deworming of our livestock patients.
Laboratory Analysis
We offer routine screening for Brucellosis and Tuberculosis testing as well as complete blood panels for our sick patients.
Our practice is fully equipped to hospitalize small livestock.
Emergency Medicine
Veterinary care doesn’t follow a set schedule, so our doctors are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for your animal emergencies.
